I’ve just been to Shanghai to visit old friends, and to hook up with bassist Michael Hicks, whom I used to play with when living in Boston. The plan was to play a couple of gigs as well. The first gig went really well. We performed as a trio – Michael, Eddy Goltz (guitar) and me. Full of excitement we turned up for the second gig at another club – but as we arrived, another group was already playing. As we approached the owner he just shook his head, gritted his teet and said ‘well, we can’t pay the fee you demand…..’ Michael said ‘welcome to Shanghai my friend…’ hehe what a BUMMER…
