Cacau Novais – Denmark tour

In march 2012 the Brazilian singer Cacau Novais will be visiting Denmark. Cacau is from Belém in North Brazil. She has performed with various jazz and bossa nova groups at different festivals in Brazil incl Baia Cool Jazz Festival, Festival Internacional de Música do Pará. She has also participated in operas ex Verdi’s ‘La Traviata’.

In november 2011 I was touring Brazil with ‘Walbum/Campagnol with Sizão Machado Group’. It was during this tour that I met Cacau and we agreed to do a tour together – in Denmark.

Pekka Pylkkänen Quartet in Japan

On Nov 24th – Dec 3rd 2011 I will be joining the Pekka Pylkkänen Quartet for a tour in Japan. It’s a very exciting project with four musicians from different parts of the world.
We’ll be playing eigth concerts in different parts of Japan(check calendar).
The repertoire will be all originals, mainly Pekka’s compositions. We will also be doing a clinic at the Koyo Conservatory in Kobe.

This group will be playing two concerts at Sesc in Sao Jose dos Campos and Sesc Pompeia, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The events are a part of the ‘INVASÃO DO JAZZ NÓRDICO’ arranged by the ‘Instituto Cultural Da Dinamarca’ in collaboration with Brazilian drummer Carlos Ezequiel.

DodoBennyBossa

In the summer of 2010 Dodo released her first solo album. The album features the beloved songs by Danish, Benny Andersen.

I joined the group shortly after and in Sep-Oct 2011, we did a successful tour of Denmark with Dodo’s new project.

Our last concert was in the beautiful ‘Glassalen’ in Tivoli in Copenhagen.

New album out Thomas Walbum Trio Tales from the Blue Gateway Music – TW01 After two successful tours of Japan the trio went into the recording studio ‘WOO’ in Kashiwas, Japan. Visitors from all over

During a week in January I had the house full of great musicians, who became new close friends of mine. Carlos Ezequiel (Brasil), Pekka Pylkkänen (Finland), Greg Burke (US) and Ronan Guilfoyle (Ireland). We had lots of great food, wine and long talks about music at my place and played a few gigs together. Also I had invited Carlos and Pekka to do a workshop at Helsingør MGK.

Birgitte Escobar Quartet

New vocal jazz quartet Brigitte Escobar: vocals Andreas Hatholt: double bass Carsten Landors: drums Thomas Walbum: piano It started out with a couple of jam sessions, and after our first couple of gigs we found the group to have a really great chemistry, and so we decided to continue working together as a steady group.
